Outdoor kitchens are increasingly becoming popular with more and more people opting to get their backyards fitted out with the kitchens. However, which are the best outdoor kitchens in Australia? We took the time to study data on outdoor kitchens and see what consumers like. Here are our findings:

The first set of questions was posed to consumers who already have outdoor kitchens.

• 1.    What are the top five features of an outdoor kitchen?

In descending order, these are the features consumers said they looked for in an outdoor kitchen.

5. Cabinets
Over 50% of consumers selected cabinets as a considerable feature for an outdoor kitchen.
4. Countertops
Almost 60% of consumers said sturdy, well-fitted countertops were an absolute must.
3. Outdoor Lighting
Over 65% of consumers have outdoor lighting to assist when cooking outdoors.
2. Outdoor Seating
Over 70% of consumers have arranged for outdoor seating alongside the kitchen.
1. Grills
90% of the consumers have grills to improve the performance of their outdoor kitchen.

5. Smoker
Only 4% of consumers prefer smokers.
4. Charcoal Grills
12% of consumers use charcoal grills for their outdoor kitchen.
3. Hybrid Grill
13% of consumers use hybrid grills.
2. Electric Grill
15% of consumers reported using electric grills.
1. Gas Grill
Winning the hearts of 50% of all consumers, gas grills were the favoured grille of choice.

21% of consumers prefer stainless steel. We expected a bit more though!t most of consumers claim that cleaning stainless steel is much tougher than it seems.
1. Granite
31% of consumers favour granite countertops.

51% have included outdoor sinks on their list of most-wanted items in an outdoor kitchen.
5. Side Burner
50% want to have a side burner.
4. Outdoor Seating
65% want to facilitate family and friends with outdoor seating.
3. Outdoor Lighting
Outdoor lighting is important to 66% of the potential consumers
2. Countertops
72% would love to have countertops.
1. Grill
95% want a grill for the outdoor kitchen they are planning on having.

50% want to have a side burner.

38% want to have a gas grill.

It is surprising to see the Aussies walking away from the traditional charcoal grills but this is what technology often does by introducing innovative alternatives.
